I attended the FTC Pet Medications Workshop on October 2, 2012 in Washington, D.C. and want to offer some perspectives on the following issues that were addressed at the Workshop: • Are pharmacists qualified to dispense pet prescriptions? • Are veterinarians writing prescriptions so that consumers can have them filled at pharmacies of their choice? • Is there a justification for the drug manufacturer practice of restricted distribution of prescription and over-the-counter medications only to veterinary clinics? Following those perspectives are listed some recommendations for the industry. Please see the attached document for full details. Gordon Magee
