This law would create more paper work for veterinarians and would be of no value to the pet or the animal owner. Most veterinarians will call a prescription into a pharmacy for a client at no charge. Clients are informed enough to know that there are many places available to get their veterinary drugs. Most of the time it is more convenient and cost effective to get the drugs while at the veterinary clinic. Pharmacists are not educated in veterinary physiology and don't do a very good job of counseling pet owners about veterinary drugs. This is an attempt from the big box stores to try and monopolize the sale of veterinary drugs at the expense of the small veterinary clinic.
