Submission Text
As a veterinarian, I already provide a written prescription, for no charge, if an owner requests one. The dosages and potential side affects can be significantly different for animals than for people. Special training in needed to assure proper safety when dispensing animal medications. Human pharmacists do not have that type of training. I know this because one of my daughters is a pharmacist. Providing a written prescription for every medication needed will be very time consumming and will result in increased costs and increased fees for veterinary clients. The pet owning public will be hurt, not helped, by the proposed legislation.
