The settlement with Phusion is just a feel good effort and not likely to have any real impact. Mere labeling is not a proven strategy to reduce the danger of these products for kids. These products are truly an exercise in deception. Not only are they not really malt beverages; the alcohol is basically laundered (remove the color, flavor, and sometimes the alcohol and replace it with new colors, flavors and with hard alcohol) in order to get a lower tax, greater distributrion and greater availability in stores. Then, to top it off they come in large cans with high alcohol content. While requiring this product to have less alcohol content is moving in the right direction, it still doesn't go far enough and still is a danger to kids: now you have to drink two of these cans to binge. Not much progress.
