This is an exceptionally bad idea. When I was in college and studying databases, there was considerable debate about using SSN's as Unique or Primary Key values, and beyond the massive privacy concerns (you surely have heard any of the myriad stories of laptop loss and theft with confidential data... Like maybe in the VA?) there was a bet that was settled about whether or not SSN numbers are absolutely unique, or have ever been reissued/reused/recycled (they have been). Further irony was that the school used our SSN's as our student ID's. It's already scary as hell what a SSN and $50 will get you online, and you should not be pouring fuel on the fire. The SSN is a government utility and should be locked down better than it is and remain government only. Thank you.
