Hello, I've taken care with my SSN. It's removed from my driver's license, pilot's license and all medical records. I site the FTC page when people ask for SSN for non-financial issues. I need access to the airport ramp at Hanscom field. Surprisingly, the form for background check and fingerprints asked for the SSN. I asked the state police officer why. He said not submitting it would seriously delay getting fingerprint info from the FBI. Here, we have a government agency implying one must submit SSN for timely service. This seems contrary to other Id theft prevention efforts. I finally provided the number, for Massport will deny my application if it is not finished in a timely manner (60 days). regards
