The use of current SSN information is critical for four reasons beyond financial (all which are for aiding and protecting the general public): 1. They are the most accurate way for use to locate owners of unclaimed funds. We reconnect millions of dollars to people that had no idea they had funds that belonged to them, especially the elderly. 2. The Courts can decide in the favor of plaintiffs when they get ripped off, but they can't force the defendant to pay if they can't find them. We use SSN to track and recover claims from defendants that purposely decide to not pay back what they owe. 3. We use SSN as a primary way to verify a job applicants true address history. With this we know where to search for criminal records so as to help protect employers and employees from workplace violence. 4. We reunite families and friends by finding those those who can't easily be found (and as a private investigator I am held responsible to only reconnect those who want to be reconnected). Bottom line, the loss of the SSN as a tracking tool will have unintended consequences that will effect consumers and businesses far beyond financial reasons!
