To Whom It May Concern: As an owner/manager of McCool's Flooring, a four store family flooring business, and McCool’s Floor Care, a Mohawk Floor Care Essentials carpet cleaning business, I would like to express my opinion of giving PTT fiber a new classification other than polyester. I personally have had the opportunity to clean PTT after it has been installed for at least one year. I am qualified and able to tell by the look of the carpet after normal wear what kind of fiber it is. I am always able to easily distinguish PET yarn by its notable matting in higher traffic areas. This situation is not noticed when carpet is nylon or PTT. The PTT also is very easily cleaned. When working with customers in our retail stores, we are frustrated when we see a customer turned off by looking at the labeling to find the product we have been showing them is polyester. We then have to try to explain the difference of PET versus PTT fiber: that PTT is much softer and stronger than PET. It would be much more accurate to rename PTT to another classification other than polyester to help our customers understand the advantages of its superior characteristics. I would submit to you that renaming PTT would be of great help to all carpet consumers and retailers alike. It truly performs much better than PET and easily has proved itself in the field. Sincerely, Douglas McCool
