Subject: Cigarette and Smokeless Tobacco Reports
I am a researcher at the University of Kansas Medical Center in the Department of Preventive Medicine. Cigarette smoking is a main focus of our research activities. I believe it is vital that you continue to publish your annual cigarette tobacco reports. During this time of volatility in the tobacco industry, the federal trade commission plays a vital role in publishing unbiased reports of tobacco activities. Tobacco researchers would lose an inconceivable amount of valuable information if the government discontinued its examination into the tobacco industry's sales, advertising, and promotion. In order for advocates and researchers to continue to act towards a healthier country, it is critical that information contained in the FTC's annual tobacco report continue being made available to the public.
