My husband and I live 1/2 mile from the Quality Market (Penn Traffic Co. store) in Lockport, NY that is one of the stores that Tops Markets has been ordered to sell. We live in a development that is composed primarily of elderly people. I do not believe that Tops will be able to sell this store to an owner that will be able to provide supermarket type service to the residents of this area of Lockport. Not only will residents of the northeast corner of Lockport be affected, but also the residents of Gasport, Middleport, and Barker, towns which do not have supermarkets. The only other chain now doing business in the Buffalo area is Wegman's and the area I live in is not the type of location that Wegman's services. It would be a terrible inconvenience to the residents if this store closes because a buyer cannot be found. Then we would all have to find means (no public transportation available) to get to the closest Tops Markets, 4 or 5 miles away. Tops was willing to take the Quality Market on. I hope the FTC is not so short-sighted that they will not reconsider this order. I urge the FTC to reconsider the ordering of the sale of the Quality Market in Lockport NY.
