I would like to go on record in support of Tops Grocery Stores taking over the P&C Store at Riverside Mall. I have lived in Cortland for 25 years and been a regular Tops shopper. This store has shown a committment to our community while other grocery stores have come and gone. For as long as I can remember, P&C operated two stores in Cortland which were even closer together than the two Tops stores will be if you allow this transition to go through. If that was not a concern to the FTC, I cannot begin to understand how the two Tops stores, which will be even further apart, are a problem to the FTC. While many grocery stores are catering to the wealthier segment of the county population in Cortlandville, Tops is proposing to establish itself firmly in the City limits within reach of many senior citizens and other city residents who are more economically challenged and lack the transportation to get out to Cortlandville. Please allow Tops to take over the Riverside P&C store without further delay.
