Dear FTC: One of the few positive changes the government has made to my daily life in the past few years has been implementing the Do Not Call registry. I know firsthand how valuable this service is. After a year of blissful silence on the registry, we moved and had to change phone numbers. Suddenly my otherwise quiet phone was ringing with telemarketer calls (Note: the law should be amended so that when you move your do not call status is transferred to the new number with you rather than having to sign up for it again). Now that I have signed up for the registry again, my house is once more peaceful and serene. PLEASE DO NOT ALTER THE PRESENT BILL TO ALLOW TELEMARKETERS TO MAKE PRERECORDED CALLS WHETHER I DO BUSINESS WITH THEM OR NOT!!!!!!! We have enough loopholes for charities and political organizations already (which I would love to see closed as well). Sincerely, Ben Erickson P.S. Now if you'll just do something about the 80-100 spam e-mails I receive a day . . .
