My family signed the Do Not call registry because we were sick and tired of calls in all hours, especially during the dinner hour, from folks that wanted to sell us something. It is our phone, it is our right not to be continually bombarded with sales pitches that are high intimidation, covert or overt lying about some aspect of the products, or made by a machine. We still do not want these calls, and we also do not want robots to call and ring our line to see if someone picks it up, or doing the sales pitches to us. Do not make it easy for companies to cold call us at our homes, especially after we have made it abundantly clear that we do not want these kind of calls. Must we all have unlisted phone numbers with screening on each line just to have a bit of privacy and have the use of a phone at the same time? We are more than consumer, we are people with real needs for down time and peace and quite in our homes. We are not a big business with a secretary or two to take our calls and screen them, like I’m sure the big guys at the FCC do. We answer our own phones and do not want to be harassed, cajoled, pressured, or in any other way bugged at home AFTER we have requested not to be. Give us the respect that you want for yourself and DO NOT allow the phone sales calls to begin again.
