Please do not allow this ammendment to go through. The Do not call program is a terrific success. This amendment would ruin it. We finally have peace and quiet in our homes. We can finally enjoy a meal together uninterrupted and this amedment would turn that peace into frustration and aggrevation. It does not matter if the caller is a human or a pre-recorded message, the call itself is unwanted by the majority. Why can't we set the default as opted out and if we want the calls, we can opt-in? I think a pre-recorded message would be even more disruptive than a human being. To opt out of a pre-recorded message, I would have to listen to the entire message before having the chance to opt out. At least with a human, I can interrupt them. As a consumer, I do not want the phone call in the first place. But wait a minute! I thought the "Do not call" registry was for those who already know they want to opt out and do not want the phone calls at all. Why is this amedment even being considered? When I signed up for the Do not call list, it was because I did not want calls, human, machine, or otherwise. Please do not break what is working well. Finally, we have government regulation that makes sense and is truly in the public's best interest. It would be so US Government of you to ruin it with such an amendment. Please, surprise us and keep in place what we have come to consider peace and quiet with our families during the very little quality family time we have. Keep up the great work!! Yours truly, Jack Levin
