I am firmly opposed to allowing an amendment permitting companies to send prerecorded telemarketing messages even to those individuals with whom they have an established relationship. I elected to opt out from receiving telemarketing calls, and I want to keep it that way. If a company with whom I have a relationship wants to contact me, I would prefer they do it by mail. I am even opposed to charity and political telemarketing calls, but I guess I just have to put up with them. The telephone should be for the consumer's convenience; not a method to be sold products he/she is not interested in. Just because the consumer has a relationship with a business doesn't mean he/she is interested in listening to a prerecorded telemarketing call.
