Gentlemen: I am writing to oppose the proposed ammendment that would permit so-called automated, pre-recorded telephone messages from a vendor to a 'customer' where a business relationship exists. Frankly, I am amazed that anyone would consider such a proposal that flies in the face of the intent of the 'Do No Call List. The 'Do Not Call List' represents a clear victory for consumers. To dilute the effectiveness of this highly sucessful program by providing such a loophole is outrageous. While I understand that there would be an 'opt-out' provision, this is unworkable. 'Opt-out' procedures are generally both time comsuming and a nuisance. The purpose of the 'Do Not Call List' was to have one place were a consumer could register. The proposed 'loophole' would effectiveness destroy the value of the 'Do Not Call' program. I urge you not to accept the proposed ammendment. Thank you. Donald L. Roman
