|Subject:||Trade Regulation Rule on Telemarketing Sales|
|Title:||Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, Request for Comment|
|CFR Citation:||16 CFR Part 310|
Comments:I think that allowing prerecorded messages, even to preestablished customers is a bad idea. Individuals, such as myself, who only have wireless telephone lines and pay for every minute they spend on the phone would be forced to deal with countless numbers of calls that cost us money or have to sort through just as many voice mails. If I understand the proposal correctly it would also allow telemarketers access to the do-not-call list which is itself a bad idea. The do-not-call list is a collection of legitimate telephone numbers and giving marketers access to that is asking for trouble. The term "business relationship" is sketchy at best and could be twisted in any number of ways to allow marketers to make unwanted telephone calls to individuals.
