Please do not give in to the petition submitted by the Direct Marketing Association. The petition is a blatant act of disrespect for those who asked to not receive such calls. Furthermore, a "business relationship" should not automatically allow a bypass of previously established protections. Simply buying something will subject people to phone marketing when they told you they do not want to be marketed to over the telephone network? I can't believe the FTC itself would propose such an idiotic loophole. Who do you really represent? It is these kind of actions that have driven me to abandon the traditional telephone system in favor of cell phones, however I fear they are next in line to be subjected to this kind of abuse.
