|Subject:||Trade Regulation Rule on Telemarketing Sales|
|Title:||Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, Request for Comment|
|CFR Citation:||16 CFR Part 310|
Comments:I don't care about the call abandonment rate, because having worked in telemarketing in the past I know that this is abused to easily above 10% in some cases and has essentially no enforcement so changing this law matters little. What I DO want to comment on is recorded telemarketing. I'm already recieving numerous recorded telemarketing messages on my answering machine per week and would like to see that stop. Most of these recorded calls are for refinancing or house improvement. Please do not allow recorded telemarketing - it will cost jobs and open the door to automated abuse where a boiler room full of phone switches and computers harasses tens of thousands of cold calls per day.
