The proposal to open the Do Not Call registry should be withdrawn. Those of us who registered in the Do Not Call registry did so with the intention of seeking relief from un-solicited tele-marketing. The registry was established with this purpose in mind. To open the registry seems counter to the intent of establishing the registry. Further, such action would serve to punish those of us who registered as per the published original intent. Opening the registry would serve only to perpetrate a massive deception that victimizes the public. After all, no individual would have registered in the Do Not Call registry if they had expected that such registration would result in exactly the activity that they were seeking relief from. Please do not submit to the interest of commercial entities. Please maintain the Do Not Call registry in its current capacity, with its current intent of serving the interest of the citizens of the United States as originally intended.
