I am writing to you regarding your expressed desire to relax the limitations placed upon telemarketers by the Telemarketing Sales Rule. I find it infuriating that you would propose relaxing these rules; it appears that you do not care that you are supposed to be regulating business conduct and protecting American citizens from harassment. I pay for a phone line for MY convenience, not to provide an inepensive way for businesses to interupt my life with their advertisments. Regardless of what their lobbyists tell you, we do not exist to provide an income stream to them. What will it take to wake your organization up from its stupor to make you realize that you have become pet poodles for business, a Janet Jackson equivalent in marketing? You have an embarassingly dismal track record so far this year. Your so-called oversight has become worthless. It's time that you get back to protecting citizens from business's overreaching practices. I DO NOT want telemarketing calls, and I DO NOT want my phone number sold to telemarketers so they can use a sleazy definition of business relationship to bombard me with their advertisments. The political ads were bad enough, and if I start getting more telemarketing calls I will dump my landline and move to a cell phone if you won't live up to your mandate. Regards; Jeff Fletcher
