I signed up for the National Do-Not-Call Registry because I have no desire to receive sales calls. From anyone. I gladly tolerate the calls from non-profit organizations since they are asking me to give back to the community of which I am a member.
However, the pre-existing relationship is a loophole that has always been abused by companies who have no interest in me as a person, or as a member of my community, and who's sole interest is limited to separating me from the money I have earned. These unrequested calls are disruptive to my time with my family and my time studying to further my own career or interests.
Prerecorded calls are even more offensive to me because not only is the company using a service I pay for (my telephone) to advertise to me, but they are not even giving some U.S. resident a job to do so. As we slowly recover from this economic downturn I find a company that wants to take money from residents of this nation without supplying jobs to non-working residents to be detestable.
In short, it is my fervent hope that you will NOT open the contact information in the National Do-Not-Call Registry to special interests who only want to take from this great nation, and give nothing in return. Respectfully, David L. Rosenthal
