Allowing these changes to the rules will only add to the distrust of the FTC. Millions of people have signed up for the do not call list in the hopes that the FTC is actually looking out for them. The mere proposal of these rule changes shows that the FTC is not looking out for the consumer. If these rules go through, I will most certainly get rid of my phone. Already, 80% of my calls are telemarketers, most of which hang up when I answer. This is a real problem costing me time and money.
