I am writing to comment on the proposed loophole that would permit telemarketers to call people on the Do Not Call Registry to play pre-recorded messages. Allowing that would be a huge step backward from what has been achieved. There is no reason for allowing it other than to pander to telemarketing companies. The people who have signed up with the Do Not Call Registry have made it clear that they do not want to be intruded upon through the telephone and allowing this to happen is deceitful and completely destroys the trust that those that have signed up have given to the government. As a person who has signed up on the Registry, I am appalled that this is even being considered.
