The DO NOT CALL list is one of the most successful actions by the FCC in my memory. It should be strengthened, not relaxed. In particular, I request that automated messages should be forbidden, and that all rules about automated messages should be strengthen, not relaxed. Also, I used to find it incredibly annoying to pick up the phone and find a dead line. Telemarketing callers looking for a female voice or whatever drop the call when I pick up. Or predictive dialing so that I answer before the call is handed to a rep. 1. Forbid all automated phone messages or we will have "phone spam" that rivals the current problem with email spam. 2. Forbid any marketing caller to call a number and not be "on the line" when I answer. No hangups, period. If they call me, they must talk to me, with a person, not an automaton. 3. Continue the DO NOT CALL list 4. Extend the DO NOT CALL list to charities. Please DENY the DMA's petition to extend safe harbor to call abandonment (see above). Thanks. -=- Richard Karash
