The only thing that irritates me more than having a person harass me with their unwanted marketing garbage is hearing some recorded message. I pay for phone service and I do not want to receive these messages. The phone system is not an equal access medium for advertisement like billboards, radio and television which all come in over the air. The telephone system is a private communications medium which the consumers must pay for to have service to their homes. When these companies start sending me checks in the mail for the rights to call my phone and advertise their wares, that would be different. Until then, I don't want to pay for their advertising rights.
