Regarding the proposal to open up our phones to prerecorded SPAM. In a word, NO !!! This end user will probably just give up landline service altogether. Me, and several million others. We've all had it with ,telemarketers, SPAM, adware, spyware and an ever intrusive government. I am on the No-Call list and am on it for a very good reason. The non-stop ringing of the phone at dinnertime, on the Sabbath, and, in general all day long pretty much had me to the point of disconnecting - permanantly. This is not legitmate advertisng, this is, at best, nuisance intrusion in the privacy of my home. These telemarketing companies operate on the fringes of legitimacy. They have no business intruding into people's home's. They have no more business intruding into my personal dwelling than a Peeping Tom. There's a good reason why the laws for a Do-Not-Call Registry passed so easily... The people of this country demanded it!!! Also, the courts have been pretty clear in upholding it. We don't want and we sure as hell don't need a bunch of prerecorded SPAM ringing our phones off the hook the way those telemarketers did. So take that proposal and stick it where the sun don't shine... and leave it there... forever. MB
