It is exactly those telemarketing calls that we signed up to avoid. Telemarketing calls of any nature are an invasion of an individual's privacy. We now pay quite a lot for telephone service which we purchase for our convenience. It is that service we use to communicate with those we wish, not the unwelcome probes of telemarketers. We have already signed up with the lists and thereby have voiced our opinion and choice in the matter. I do not feel there should be any amendments to the Telemarketing Sales Rule which would allow calls of any nature including pre-recorded messages. I have on occasion received those pre-recorded messages at very annoying times of the day. In spite of the fact that my number has been included on the Do-Not-Call list since its inception, I have received those telemarketing probes. I have no way of tracing the number so that I could report these calls as an infraction of the legislation. I most truly wish the legislation is NOT changed in order to make unwanted calls a possiblity. As I say, we have already chosen and should not be asked to bend to the wishes of those who want to invade our privacy with unwanted messages of any kind. Please do NOT bend to the wishes of the telemarketers. If anything, make it more impossible for telemarketers to enter our homes uninvited.
