I think this idea is against the spirit of the do not call list. As consumers we have the right to choose to be left in peace. The wild success of the do not call list shows just how much the public desires their phones to only ring for legitimate calls. Further, prerecorded calls do not give the consumer a chance to tell the person to opt them out of future calls. This action can only be seen as an action sought by the DMA (Direct Marketing Association of America) and provides nothing in the public interest but is only in the interest of a small minority.
