I am absolutely appalled that consideration is being given to allow prerecorded messages through to those who have signed up for the DO NOT CALL list. Obviously, if I did not want to be bothered with telemarketers and solictors what would make anyone think that it would be alright to invade my privacy through my own private telephone line that I pay for, with prerecorded messages. I feel that if I have taken the time to ensure that I will not be bothered by unwanted telephone calls, the FTC should not have the right to alter my decision. Further, I feel that an issue of this importance and magnitude that effects millions of people should be more widely publicized. I do not want anyone calling my home especially to annoy me with products or issues I have no interest in and the thoughts of prerecorded messages outrages me. Perhaps the FTC would like all calls transferred to their personal phones. It would seem that the efforts made by millions of people to have their private phones not be invaded by telemarketers by choosing to utilize the DO NOT CALL List should take precedence over the marketing companies who want to be able to push their wares on people. It is bad enough that bulk mail via the internet is filled daily with junk mail; however at least all I have to do is press a delete button. Now that I am aware of this in my own, very small way, I will ensure that I let as many folks know as possible including local and State representatives. I do hope that the FTC reconsiders this foolish change. Respectfully, Janet R. Peichert
