Comments:
Please do not move forward with the plans to open up a loophole in the Do Not Call List that would allow telemarketers to use pre-recorded messages to advertise to consumers via telephone. It completely undermines the Do Not Call List's purpose. Consumers pushed for this list because we do not wish to have our privacy invaded by telemarketing of any kind. There are plenty of other ways that advertisers can reach the public without bombarding the peace and sanctity of our homes with the most offensive of all telephone intrusions, the pre-recorded message! Please do not alllow the greed of telemarketers to override the needs and concerns of the American people. We want our businesses to flourish, and know there are many other ways that they can do so without disturbing the peace of our own households. Please urge advertisers to seek other ways to convey their message, and Do NOT allow them to undermine the Do Not Call List. It may be a small line of defense against the constant barrage of advertisements in our environment, but it is all we have! Sincerely, Gwen E. Thomas
