We have been very pleased with the peace and quiet afforded to us by the Do Not Call List. It is most distressing to learn that the FTC is considering amending the provisions of this ruling to allow recorded messages to be sent to consumers! The reason we enjoy the benefits of the Do Not Call List is that we are not forced to get up and answer the telephone to receive annoying marketing and other calls.Who could possibly think that a prerecorded message would in any way be less annoying than a person on the other end ?! Please do not allow any modification to the current rules. Or, if a change is made to allow recorded messages, then we agree with the suggestion that Voice Mail Broadcasting (and similar organizations) should be required to get permission (by mail, not by phone!) from consumers whom they wish to contact in this manner. Thank you for considering our comments. Mary Mercker and Steven Schuster
