I have paid a surcharge on my home phone bill for many years to have an unlisted number to eliminate unwanted phone calls and avoid telemarketers. They still get through sometimes but not as often. I signed-up for the Do Not Call List when it became available. Now I hear you are considering allowing pre-recorded messages by telemarketers. I VERY STRONGLY OBJECT! I pay my phone bill every month to allow myself the convenience of phone service for MY use! I know I can use caller ID and call blocking services but why should I have to pay more for phone service to keep these people from using my phone to sell me a product, solicit donations, or conduct a survey? If I want their services, I'll call them. I do not want telemarketers using the phone I pay for to harrass and annoy me! Quit allowing the telemarketers to invade the peace and quite of our homes (and in some cases inturrupt our jobs) to make a buck. Don't tell me about all the people who will be out of a job. In most cases, telemarketers pay their employees poorly and treat them like dirt!
