Pre-recorded messages are noxious whether they are by a cold caller or by someone who feels that they could justify that I was their customer. I have opted out of as many information sharing propositions and our phone is on the NO CALL list and finally our phone doesn't ring nightly at dinner time. If a person calls soliciting from an outfit that thinks we are their customer we can tell them no, please don't call this number with solicitations and get off, freeing the line. There is not that option with pre-recorded messages that rarely release the line promptly. Further, when we are out of town we call home to check messages on the answering machine. To spend money long distance to find and delete phone spam from the answering machine is ugly. Generally live solicitors don't/haven't left messages on the answering machine.
