Please do not allow this ammendment. And please have penalties for companies that do not comply. We already receive numerous pre-recorded sales calls at the office in which I work. You are always given to option to press a certain number to have your phone number deleted from their list, but this is to no avail. Often times I would press the number for an operator, and then I would ask the operator to please remove our number from their computer. Most of the time I get hung up on. Occasionally I receives nasty comments. Only one time was the operator nice, apologetic, and promised to take care of the problem. However, the calls still come in. Sometimes they come numerous times throughout the day. They have been on our answering machine. This is unwanted trash. Why should the consumer be forced to put up with it? It is bad enough that wherever we go we see immoral advertisements, and constant commercials if we choose to watch television - even at the movie theaters, now. But now, they want to be allowed to come uninvited into our homes through the telephone, AGAIN. Please do not allow this to happen. Shouldn't we be able to pick up our phone and expect to hear from a friend, family member, etc., and not be barraged with unsolicited advertisements?
