I am not in favor of loosening the "Do Not Call" restrictions. As someone who does not wish not to be called by telemarketers, I likewise do not want my answering machine filled with sales solicitations. Nor to I want to hear the solicitations when I am home and screening calls. If marketers are permitted to leave a message, then the Do Not Call list is worthless. If I am home and the phone rings, and I let the machine pick it up, then I have to listen to the message anyway. If I pick it up myself, then what is the point of being on a do not call list? Companies are so busy finding loopholes in the law, and this would be just another loophole .
