Why are we all the sudden altering the “Do Not Call” rules? The American people like not being bothered by solicitors at all hours of the day and night. We pay for our telephone service for our own use, not for the use of some corporation so they badger us with sales pitches for items that we don’t want or need. Some of these companies are already calling people that are on the do not call list. If you give them an inch they will take a mile. These automated calls will become so prevalent it will be like the list never existed. With the advent of voice over IP telephone service, junk calls will become as bad as spam over most Internet e-mail services. There will be no charge for the sender, they will send as much as they can. The Do Not Call registry was a wonderful idea. It has given us back our telephones and our peace and quiet in the evenings. Why would we want to change this? There is advertising and a sale pitches everywhere. Can’t we have at least one sanctuary from this nonsense?
