Please do not provide the considered safe harbor change in the "Do Not Call" rules that would permit prerecorded calls from assumed relationship businesses to customers whom it only presumes want to receive unsolicited calls. The reason I and most others who have asked to be on the do-not-call list is because we do not want such unsolicited calls at all. Most of us read the newspaper and can find the ads and more of us every day have access to on-line connections to the companies that we want to reach and can even use the phone book to find those companies. There is no demonstrated need to be bothered by telemarketers soliciting business when we have specifically asked not to receive those calls --even from those businesses where we happen to have made a past purchase, no matter how remote to our present or continued interest in having that business interrupt our peaceful life at home. Do not abrogate or diminish the do-not-call protection so wisely and thankfully provided by the present rules.
