I totally disagree with telemarketers being able to call your home with pre-recorded messages. Lately we've been plagued by calls that start off with a pre-recorded message that you have to wait through in order to get to a live person in order to request that they take you off their call list. This is much worse than a live person calling as you can immediately tell the telemarketer to take you off their call list. In no way should telemarketing companies be allowed to increase these type of calls and they should be required in any pre-recorded message to state the company name and a 800 number to call to remove yourself from their list at the BEGINING of the message. Furthermore we've had a few instances where calls are being made by CANADIAN telemarketing firms who do not honor the U.S. do not call list. U.S. companies should be required to honor the do not call list if they are calling U.S. homes regardless of where the hired telemarketing company is located.
