I am a consumer who has enjoyed the benefits of the Do Not Call list. I urge you to keep telemarketer restrictions exactly where they are and not loosen them in favor of prerecorded solicitations, which is what the proposed changes are about. The telemarketers' position that they're only letting consumers know about markdowns and other information that may be to our benefit is ridiculous. Print, television, radio, and online advertising is quite enough for consumers to get the information they need, particularly if consumers already have a relationship with the marketers. I have enjoyed the quiet in my evenings that used to be filled with the telephone ringing with vocal spammers. I'd like to keep it that way.
