I am strongly opposed to loosening restrictions on prerecorded telephone messages from telemarketers. If anything, they are even more annoying than live calls, since there is no one to tell "Quit calling me." It is also annoying to call my answering machine when away from home to get my messages and to be forced to hear a recorded sales pitch before I can hear the messages I'm actually interested in. There is almost nothing a commercial enterprise could tell me by phone that I'm interested in hearing. If my very favorite store is having a sale, a postcard would not be unwelcome. But a phone call is ALWAYS unwelcome.
