Comments:
I strongly urge you not to approve the proposed amendment to the Telemarketing Sales Rule. As I understand the proposed amendment, it would allow telemarketers to increase the number of prerecorded messages they can call me with on behalf of businesses with whom I have an "established business relationship". My use of the products or services of any particular vendor in no way implies my consent to receive sales calls from that vendor! The federal "Do Not Call List" has been a boon to me and millions of harried Americans who were annoyed to no end with the constant barrage of telemarketing calls before this rule was enacted. If anything, I would implore you to tighten, not loosen the restrictions imposed by this rule. If a business wants to market something to me, let them send it to me in mail so I can consider it on my own schedule, not theirs!
