I would encourage the FTC to limit the use of public communication media to harass any person by leaving messages on their answering machine. Currently, in this country we have a severe problem with unsolicited e-mail "spam" rendering computer email practically useless for some individuals. This proposal by telemarketers could do the same thing with answering machines. No one wants to return home at the end of the day and be forced to sort through numerous "messages" to determine which ones are legitimate and require a response. The FTC has provided a wonderful service with the national no call list and I urge them to not allow telemarketing firms to undermine that good work with this shabby proposal.
