Federal Trade Commission Title: Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, Request for Comment Subject Category: Trade Regulation Rule on Telemarketing Sales Docket Id: RIN 3084-0098 CFR Citation: 16 CFR Part 310 Published: November 15, 2004 Comments Due: Monday, January 10, 2005 The "Do Not Call" List has cut down on harassing phone calls at my home significantly. It has nearly become a forgotten memory. During the fall we were bombarded with annoying political calls many of which were pre-recorded, all of which were annoying. We signed up for the do not call list because we refuse to buy from telemarketers and are doing them a favor by letting them know it. Please do not allow telemarketers to circomvent this list using pre-recorded messages. If this is allowed, they will be calling at all hours of the day and night and there will be no way to stop it. Spam is annoying enough as it is, now with this proposal, telemarketers are asking you to allow them to spam us in a new way. Please don't do it.
