Please do not allow any change to the law that would permit computer calls to individuals. My world has become so much more pleasant without the nuisance calls and I dread anything that would disrupt the new found quiet. Before No Call, it was not unusual to receive 5 or more calls in one evening, many were computer generated. Regardless of the outright rudeness of many of the human callers, nothing compared to the irritation of a computer call that might hang up, to which you could not respond, and that might get into a non-stop loop. If I choose to give my name and number to a company, then I bear the responsibility for the calls. If my name and number are sold or given away without my permission or knowledge, then I have no recourse. The Direct Marketing groups are quick to cry foul, job loss, and restraint of trade. There was no regard for the privacy, the very sanctity of our homes. A complete lack of caring was their downfall. This rampant disregard caused an outpouring from the average American. It is time, once again, for the American public to join forces to protect our time in our homes. Do not allow this or any other change which would allow the Direct Market industry to once again enter my home without my permission. And while I am protesting, consider that I am already inundated with SPAM. That should be your next focus, not backing down to the Direct Marketers.
