I wish to strongly object to the proposal to allow pre-recorded solicitations to residents on the No Call list. The reason citizens such as myself signed up for the list is that we're sick and tired of getting unasked for phone calls from businesses. If we want to do business with these companies, we are perfectly capable of finding them ourselves. They can put ads in newspapers, on TV and radio, billboards, even on people on streetcorners to let us know they exist. Another problem I have with the idea of allowing pre-recorded solicitations is, in that case, we have no way of opting out. You can't tell a recording, "Don't call me again!" Even just hanging up on them doesn't always do the trick. The computers usually just call back. To call it annoying is an extreme understatement. Thank you for listening to my comments. I hope you'll see the logic behind my concerns. Sincerely, Pilar Pedraza-Bailey
