I cannot express strongly enough my opposition to the proposed FTC rule change that would allow direct marketing firms to circumvent the Do Not Call list. I am plagued by about 15-20 precorded calls a week, and since I work nights, I am often awakened by these calls in the early day. I have tried to obtain the source info on these calls, in order to tell them to desist and place me on their own do not call list, but when I do hold on to talk to their live operator, they always hang up when I try to get that info. Because I have a sickly elderly father, I can't afford to take the phone off the hook. These incoming calls are more than exasperating to me. I should not have to endure this and I feel the U.S. government should protect me as a consumer from this barrage.
