I believe I understand that these companies simply want to engage people who have already either bought a product before or have let their phone numbers etc. be known to the company thereby establishing a "business relationship". However I believe such people should be left alone over the phone and let the company contact that person thru regular mail or in the case of email, the company can send an auditory message with the email if they need a voice to be part of the contact. To me telephones are too personal and too important to people to have companies randomly clogging up the lines and message machines with an unasked for pitch for products or services..
