I am against such modification because the term "pre-existing relationship" is being abused by businesses. The term is so broad and convenient that it gives tacit approval to call. The myriad of businesses I do business on a daily basis is from long-time traditional businesses like credit card company or phone company are obvious, but every time you order something over the phone or buy something online or buy gas creates the opportunity for them to call ad nauseum through various related business conglomerates. And not once when you initiate a transaction will they ask if you want to be called or not. And when I do remember to ask either they don't know about it, give you another number to call, or transfer you and make you wait often longer than the original business transaction. Some businesses it's by design, some just because so few ask. I'm still upset that the standard wasn't set to PRESUME WE DON'T WANT TO BE CALLED. It should be an OPT IN model. Make the business specifically ask if we or any of their business partners can call to solicit a sale in the future. My phone is my personal communication line--not their sales conduit. In strongly weaking anything that defeats consumer rights to quiet and privacy at home. Thank you. Matt Watkins Pasco, Washington
