The "Do Not Call List" has had the most beneficial effect on our family life than any other laws passed in my lifetime. We have had only two telemarketing calls since it was passed, whereas before its enactment we were having our dinner and family time interrupted several times each day. Please do not cave in to big money interests. Do not weaken the call abandonment rules. When a call is abandoned, there is no live person at the other end to request removal from their calling list. It makes no difference to us whether someone with whom we have done business makes the telemarketing call. The result is the same: interruption, a waste of time while I explain that I do not do business on a verbal basis over the 'phone, and usually, a rude remark or hang-up at the other end. There are plenty of other ways that marketers can reach us without using a necessity (the telephone) that we pay for to force us to 1. answer the call, 2. try to identify the caller, 4. spend time listening to a recorded sales pitch, and 3. to explain your position to a stranger. It is a form of "home invasion" and the current rules should be enforced relentlessly. Thank you
